Obviously, since the main characters of the book are devout Protestants, there are major aspects of Christianity in this novel. The protagonist, Todd Burpo, is a pastor, and has faith in God, and also prays regularly. However, he is going through a trying time, and sometimes loses his faith in God. The Burpos show trust that God's will will be carried out no matter what, but they have a hard time accepting it, like all people.
Obviously this family the book is about is very religious. When they find out Colton is really sick they immediately start praying that he will be ok and that God will help them through this terrible time in their life. I guarantee the Burpos will show more faith throughout the story.
